ChatGPT: How To Use Artificial Intelligence As Your Free Virtual Assistant

In this episode, we’re talking about a hot topic. We’re talking about AI and ChatGPT. You probably have read of this, but if not, don’t worry. I’m in a lot of entrepreneurial spaces. It’s been very much in my face. You’re going to love knowing about this if you don’t know about it because it’s going to make your life so much easier. This is literally a game-changer. I am still in disbelief that this is available. If I only had this when I started my business in 2012 or 2013 when we didn’t have a lot of options and everything was analog.

If you’re wondering what ChatGPT is, it’s artificial intelligence. This is the definition that was given to me by ChatGPT. It stands for Chat-based Generative Pre-trained Transformer. It’s an advanced AI language model developed by OpenAI. It utilizes deep learning techniques and is trained on a large data set of text from various sources. The primary function of ChatGPT is to generate human-like text based on the input it receives. It can understand context, generate meaningful responses, and assist with various tasks such as content creation, research, and communication. With its powerful language generation capabilities, ChatGPT has become a valuable tool for businesses and individuals across numerous industries.

This is good. I’ve been toying over the past couple of years with AI copywriters, and honestly, I haven’t been that impressed by most of them. I’ve been like, “It’s not that good. That sounds pretty basic.” ChatGPT is on a whole new level. When I first started using it, I was very skeptical because I was like, “It is another one of these AI copywriters,” and then I was literally blown away. You have to know how to use it properly. If you want to access ChatGPT, go to Chat.OpenAI.com.

Something to know about ChatGPT is it is one of the most used apps in the world. I believe it got to one million users within a few days. Sometimes the servers are busy and sometimes you can’t get on, which is annoying. If you pay for the pro, which is only $20 a month, then you can always access it. I paid for the pro because I am using this so much in my business now that I want to be able to access it when I want to.

This is a game changer and it will save you much time in your business because you can use it as your free virtual assistant. What I want to do in this episode is tell you the different ways in which you can use it because you’re not going to use it properly if you don’t understand its capabilities. To prove my point about how useful ChatGPT is, I had it write the outline for this episode. What I did is I went to ChatGPT and say, “Hey there.” I’m always polite because it’s AI and I don’t know what it is. Maybe one day AI is going to take over the world and I hope that when it takes over, it will remember that I was nice to it and maybe it won’t kill me. That’s my thought about that. I’m always polite.

I’m always like, “Hey there, could you please write me a podcast outline for an episode on ChatGPT? This episode is for health and wellness practitioners who are new to starting their business.” You always want to give it context. You want to start by teaching it about your business, what you do, and who you serve because it’s going to use that context. It wrote me an outline.

Something I will tell you is it’s very rare that you’ll have ChatGPT write you something and then it will be ready to go. Typically, you have to go in there and do some edits, but that’s fine. It’s still saving you lots of time. It wrote me the outline, then I went in and deleted some things. I added some things. The very cool thing is that I didn’t have to come up with all of this on my own. I didn’t have to think about it. I got it to write it. I walked away, made myself a coffee, and came back and I had an outline for this episode.

Content Creation

One of the biggest things that ChatGPT can help you with is content creation. I know that content creation is probably one of the biggest sticking points in your business. It’s a huge pain point for new business owners. I asked in my Health Coach Accelerator Facebook group, “What’s one thing you would love to offload?” Most people said content creation. That’s when I realized, “I need to do more training on this. I’m going to bring a lot of training on ChatGPT into HCA because it is so powerful.”

I believe if you’re not using it, then you’re going to get behind. You can still get there without it, but it’s going to take you much longer. You can imagine back in the day in the ‘20s and cars are coming out. I’m like, “Your car is pretty cool, but I think I’m going to keep riding my horse and buggy. I’ll still get there.” It’s true, I would still get there, but possibly days or hours behind the person with the car. You can still get there without there, but with the rate at this expanding and growing right now, I do believe that you’ll be behind if you’re not utilizing it.

It might feel a little bit overwhelming at first, but remember, once you learn how to utilize this, your mind is going to be blown. The first thing you can use it for is content creation ideas. A lot of times we sit down to create content and we’re like, “I don’t know what to write about.” You could go ask ChatGPT and say, “Could you please give me twenty content creation ideas? I’m a health coach and I help women in their 40s lose weight.” It would give you twenty different ideas.

Instead of you having to sit down and wondering like, “What should I write?” it can come up with ideas for you. It’s very exciting. Beyond that, it can write content for you, which is cool. Rarely do I get it to write something for me where I don’t change anything, but sometimes I don’t have to change that much. This is where it’s critical that you understand your brand values and voice.

This is something I teach inside Health Coach Accelerator because your brand is your personality. You don’t want ChatGPT to write you something that sounds like a robot. You want to make sure your unique voice is in it. To give you an example, if you were to think, “What is Kendra’s voice sound like?” it’s fun, playful, blunt, no BS, and humorous. I like to bring humor in there and be a weirdo. I know this about myself and you want to make sure you know this about yourself too.

ChatGPT: Your brand is your personality. You don’t want ChatGPT to write you something that sounds like a robot.

You could go into ChatGPT and say, “Hey there,” and tell them about your business, who you are, and who you serve. You could say, “Could you please write me a 1,000-word blog post on the top 5 mistakes that women in their 40s are making when they’re trying to lose weight?” It would literally draft you a 1,000-word article. You could also do this for an Instagram post. Giving it some guidelines for the 2,200 characters you get on Instagram. You’d want to give it guidelines for how long you’d want it to be. If you say an Instagram post, it might write you a one-paragraph caption, but maybe you’re looking for a long-form caption.

You could also get it to write you a carousel post. You could say, “I want to craft a carousel post for Instagram on this topic. Could you write me a carousel post that includes ten slides?” It will write it for you. This is where it gets juicier because that first draft doesn’t need to be your final draft. You could look at that and say, “Could you please rewrite this with a more humorous voice or academic tone?” or whatever it is. You could rewrite it. You can whittle it down and say, “Could you rewrite paragraph three to make it sound more like this? Could you take paragraph two and add an example?” You can start to whittle it down. It’s fun.

You want to think of it as a collaboration. It’s not like Google, which gives you the top searches based on a search where people are usually selling you something. Think of it as you are collaborating with this entity, whatever it is. You want to start to edit, refine and break it down. Remember, you don’t want to look at that and be like, “ChatGPT sucks. I don’t like this. I’m not going to use this.” You want to refine it and edit it down. I’m starting to use this often for my content creation. The other thing you can do is you can take a piece of content that you’ve already written and you can get ChatGPT to beef it up.

TWCK 170 | ChatGPT
ChatGPT: Think of using ChatGPT as a collaboration. Unlike Google who just gives you top searches, you can edit, refine, and break ChatGPT down according to your needs.

Sometimes I’ll write something and then I’ll put it into ChatGPT. I’ll say, “Can you please rewrite this to make it flow better? Can you please rewrite this to make it sound more like this?” A good one for health and wellness coaches is reading level because oftentimes as health practitioners, we’re very nerdy and academic. We write posts that are way too advanced for the average reader. I tell my students that they shouldn’t be writing above a fifth-grade reading level because, a lot of times, you might be talking to people where maybe English is their second language or they don’t have a high level of education. You want it to be very simple. Effective marketing is simple.

We don’t want to get fancy. You can take your super nerdy posts, put them into ChatGPT, and say, “Can you rewrite this so that it doesn’t go higher than a fifth-grade reading level?” It can do that for you. How awesome is that? One of the biggest ways that we can use ChatGPT is content creation, not only for ideas but for writing your posts.

Another way this aligns with content creation that we can use is by creating hooks and headlines. If you don’t know what a hooker headline is, it’s basically the top part of a caption. For any caption, it would be like the first sentence. For a video, it would be the title of the video. For a reel, it would be the first thing you say in the reel. The point is you need to hook them. This is important in all copywriting because if you don’t capture people’s attention, if you don’t make them stop the scroll, then they’re never going to read your posts.

A lot of your effort needs to go into the hook or the headline. You can get ChatGPT to write these for you. This is amazing. For example, for this episode, I was like, “Can you please provide me with five titles for the above episode?” It’s the outline that it wrote, and this is what it gave me, 1) Unlocking Your Business Potential: How Health Coaches Can Harness The Power Of ChatGPT. 2) Revolutionize Your Health Coaching Business: Leveraging AI With ChatGPT. 3) The Future Of Health Coaching, Boosting Productivity And Engagement With ChatGPT. 4) ChatGPT: The Ultimate Tool For Health Coaches And Practitioners To Elevate Their Business. 5) Supercharge Your Health Coaching Business: A Guide To Mastering ChatGPT For Success.

All of those are pretty good. What I did was I worked with one of them that I liked the best and I whittled it down to the one that I’m using, which is ChatGPT: How To Use Artificial Intelligence As Your Free Virtual Assistant. I didn’t write that. AI did that for me. How cool is this? We don’t need to be great at copywriting and at coming up with ideas. We have this amazing tool at our fingertips. This can save us a lot of money because it can do things that a virtual assistant would typically do for you.

Email Marketing

Here’s the next thing you can use it for, and we’ve talked about content creation. This fits under the umbrella of content creation, but I want to purposely make it separate so that you understand how you can use it, which is email marketing. A lot of my students are like, “I don’t know what emails to send to my list. I don’t know what to send them.”

You can have ChatGPT create an email for your email list. You could even take past pieces of content, copy it, paste it into ChatGPT, and say, “Can you please rewrite this as an email for my email list?” How amazing is that? That is cool. Usually, the first draft isn’t going to be perfect, but you can work with it and collaborate with it until you get an email that you like. This makes content creation much easier. Under the umbrella of email marketing are client communication and personalized emails.

This is what I did. This is a great example. I had a woman who has sent me a couple of emails and she wants to collaborate with me on an episode. The problem is that a couple of years ago, she ditched me three times. She had reached out for collaboration and canceled on me right before our scheduled meeting twice, then she ghosted me on the third meeting. I was like, “I know her, but I don’t want to collaborate with her because of this bad experience I’ve had in the past.”

I had ChatGPT. I said, “This is the situation. Can you please write me a very respectful and kind response to decline this collaboration?” It did it for me. You can do that with your clients as well. Maybe you have to write an uncomfortable email about someone wanting a refund request where they don’t qualify or somebody asking you for something that you don’t provide. You can get ChatGPT to write this for you. That’s another way that you can use it. That’s email marketing and also email communication in general.

Research Assistant

This one is good for any of you who dive into the peer-reviewed literature for your business. As a functional health coach, I was always in PubMed, always looking up studies. Honestly, it’s a lot of work, but ChatGPT can be your research assistant. It can do things like summarize studies for you. It can summarize books. Let’s say you wanted to read Levels of Energy, which is a book I read that I love. You could say, “Could you please summarize the Levels of Energy?”

TWCK 170 | ChatGPT
Levels of Energy

It will summarize the entire book for you. You could ask it to summarize a study for you. You could ask it to find studies for you. This is a way I’ve been utilizing a little bit because I still work on my own health. I am actively trying to deal with H. pylori infection that I’ve had for a few years I’ve been unable to get rid of. I’ve been in the literature a lot looking at studies for different tools, herbs, and different things I can use to try to get rid of it.

I will ask it. I’ll say, “Can you please list all the studies that discuss H. pylori and alternative treatment?” Sometimes I’ll hear someone say this, “This is a good tool for getting rid of H. pylori,” then I’ll say, “ChatGPT, can you please let me know if there are any peer review studies that connect getting rid of H. pylori to cranberry juice or something like that?” Something to know with this is ChatGPT only looks at information up to 2021. Anything more cutting edge, 2022 or 2023, is not going to find that. That’s something to know.

You can also use ChatGPT to stay updated on industry trends and news. What can be an effective content creation strategy is commenting on the latest health and wellness trends or articles. I often see ridiculous articles in mainstream media where it will say something like, “Apparently it’s healthy to have three glasses of wine at night.” You could make a reel on that. You could say, “This study came out and this is why this is BS.” That type of content tends to be quite engaging because it’s relevant and timely. You can ask ChatGPT to summarize all the latest articles or health and wellness trends. That can help you respond to things that people are seeing on the internet. It’s very effective.

Title Writing

The next one I want to talk about is very similar to what we’ve talked about, but I want to give its own category, which is titles, video, freebie, and podcast episode titles. All my podcast episode titles have been written by ChatGPT. It’s funny because a few people are like, “I’ve been loving your titles. They’re like cracking me up. I find them engaging.” I’m like, “Thanks to my free virtual assistant ChatGPT.” If you do a podcast or have a YouTube channel, you can use it for titles there. Freebie titles are important, especially if you are running ads. Come up with an engaging title for your freebie that makes people want to download it.

Facebook Ad Copy

Finally, the other thing you could have it do is write your Facebook ad copy. This is something that I am loving because, typically, Facebook ads are much about testing. You have to test a lot. When you test copy, it’s time-consuming because it can take you a long time to write copy for your Facebook ad. Typically, when I test a new campaign, I’ll use 2 or 3 versions of copy, and that could take me 1 up to 1.5 hours and a half to write. Now I’m getting ChatGPT to write it for me. That copy is getting results with my ad. It’s pretty exciting.

This probably scratches the surface of how you can use ChatGPT in your business. I am still learning. I’m going to be bringing a whole bunch of new training on this into the update for HCA that I will be releasing. I’m going to show you how to leverage it so you can save much more time in your business and then not have to outsource as much. It will take you a little bit of time to learn this as it does with any new tool but trust me, it is well worth it and it’s going to help you stay ahead of the curve. It’s going to prevent you from burning out because you are not going to have to come up with that many ideas. You’re not going to have to write as much content. You’re going to be collaborating with ChatGPT to write better and more engaging content, which will save you a whole lot of time.

TWCK 170 | ChatGPT
ChatGPT: It might take a little bit of time to learn ChatGPT. But once you get the hang of it, you can stay ahead of the curve and prevent you from burning out.
